Martian IRC is not enough. We need to meet up. When? Where? This app helps you solve all this coordination with fellow Urbit people. Make awesome plans, send invites to other Urbit ships, and confirm which events you're attending. Live keeps track of all of these past and future events for you.
a distillation of the work I did with @pontus_fadpun on %gather, which was produced as a grant. %live is a separate codebase, but the sentiment is the same: live events play a critical role in any decentralized community and Urbit provides an excellent [1] substrate for hosts to fully own their coordination tooling. the plan is to expand on it so hosts can effectively market to the clearweb, integrate with their groups/chat channels, and generally make it a better alternative to centralized services like luma, ticketmaster, [2] eventbrite, http://meetup.com, etc. the current version of %live essentially establishes the core protocol - with a barebones frontend layered on top - but it's a complete app, usable today [3]
